Papaya Leaf Tea to boost platelets while pregnant?

ANY INFO WOULD BE GREAT!!!
I was diagnosed with ITP, which was only discovered due to pregnancy. I am currently 23 weeks along, and my PLTs always are around 68k to 74k. Before pregnancy, they were usually b/t 93k and 107k. I have been told will have to take steroids when I am about a month or so out from due date (April 30). I have read from several people with ITP that Papaya Leaf Tea or exract REALLY boosted their PLTs for them. I have asked about this to all of my docs: OBGYN, HEMATOLOGIST, PERINATOLOGIST, and they all seem to have the same answer 'don't really know if it works, but don't THINK it would hurt the baby or pregnancy. Do any of you have any personal experience with this???? I really want to try it (in hopes of not having to do steriods or IVIG), but definitely don't want to put the baby at any risk. Thank you all SO much for your help.
p.s. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

Hi there! I have no experience as of yet on if it works or not, but I just started taking it. I am currently 32 weeks pregnant. I was diagnosed with ITP in my last pregnancy but my platelets never dropped below 100. This time they seem to be dropping lower and faster so I am trying this to see if it works. I see you wrote this a few months ago. Did you ever start it? What were your results? I would love to know. Good luck to you!!

I'm not sure any of this information is reliable, but there are quite a few warnings out there about papaya leaf and pregnancy, right on the pro-papaya leaf websites, for example:

Is Papaya Leaf safe in Pregnancy?
If you are pregnant please consult your doctor before you take any of our products. Papaya leaf in high doses is known in India to have abortive effects during pregnancy.

Pregnant women should avoid Papaya, as it can be a uterine stimulant (papain apparently dissolves a protein(s) responsible for adhering the newly fertilized egg to the wall of the uterus)

CAUTION: This enzyme is not recommended for
pregnant or nursing mothers or those who are on any kind of blood thinner. As with any
powerful enzyme, please consult your doctor to consider its safety for your body. Do not
offer to children without your doctor's advice.

This is a very trustworthy source. I literally know hundreds of people on this forum personally. I would heed the warnings listed. It is possible the owner of Bulk Herb Store (that manages the forum and is a practicing herbalist) may be able to give you more solid info then what is just posted here.
