Platelet results US vs Canada was created by Sandy Too
Hello everyone, firstly I have been thinking of you my neighbors to the south all day today as I remembered 9/11. God Bless you all and keep you safe.

I post as I have been recently diagnosed with ITP. I have a multi-system auto-immune problem. I am told the ITP is caused by the Lupus part. I am grateful to have found this site and the information shared. however I am having trouble with the blood work results. Here it seems the results are reported differently as my platelets were at 13 last week where the range is to be 150-400.
Then I read that in the US (I think) that the results are calculated in the thousands.
I ask is there anywhere that I can compare the two types of results so I know where I am at?
thanks so much, Sandy Too

That's a US-type report. Just add three zeroes. I think US and Canada report it the same, as it is a worldwide standard. The number, whether one, two, or three digits, is thousands of platelets per microliter of blood, so a count of 13 is actually 13,000 platelets per microliter of blood.

Exactly. 13,000 = 13 = 13k. Same thing.

I'm sure that they are counted in the thousands there too, they just told you 13 because it means the same thing.
