New Discussion Topic Area for Seniors was created by
Would it be possible to have a new discussion area for seniors? I am a male who is 66 years old. I wonder about my longevity with this disease. I bet I am not the only one. Assuming you are willing to create this new area I hope you can structure the posts into a finite number of discussion areas.

I'm 61 and am more bothered about side effects from medications affecting me than the ITP itself. Already got osteoporosis secondary to steroids and now waiting for an ophthalmic consult as my intra ocular pressures have risen steadily over the last 3 years so my optician is thinking I may be developing steroid induced glaucoma.

Wiseman:

ITP isn't really known to shorten a lifespan, however, the treatments can affect it depending on which ones you use. How are your counts?

The last time someone asked to create a special section (Man Cave), it was used for about a month and hasn't been used much since. You can create a new post for that reason and I can sticky it if you'd like.

I'm a senior citizen, older than you, I have never thought of ITP having to do with the length of my life since I've lived with it for many years. Any questions you have about ITP probably benefit the whole population here not just seniors so it would be good to ask/comment in the regular topics.

Thanks for the input.

I would be curious to know the age demographics of the forum. It seems that based on many of the messages that provide age clues that the individuals that post are 20 - 40s.

Some of the drug therapies are not effective as one gets older. Just one of the things I am curious about based member experiences.
