My grandson who is turning 15 and has always been in good heath and an athlete had a severe nose bleed about six weeks ago. He was taken to the National Children's Hospital in Washington DC since he lives in Bethesda Maryland. They determined that his platelets were 7,000. After receiving a transfusion they went to 300,000. However, since then they fell to 68,000. Yesterday they did a second transfusion. They also tested his blood for different diseases but nothing showed up; however, between hospital visits his pediatrician found that he had H Pylori.'Durung this last visit to the hospital they said that the H Pylori was appently gone, which seems strange. The doctors have not provided a diagnosis yet. They seem unsure. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what his parents should do to determine the cause of his low platelets?
