Hi, my name is Jarobi, and i was diagnosed with ITP in 2010 at the age of 15, and i was wondering if anyone else has something similar to me.
I basically have no normal ITP symptoms at all. No bruising, no bleeding, no petechiae, nothing that i can think of. The only thing wrong with me is tiredness. I sleep ATLEAST 15+ hours a day, and the doctors say that it has nothing at all to do with ITP. So to my understanding is that i have ITP with no symptoms and probably have something else as well like chronic fatigue.
I want to know if anyone else has something similar and has some information. because whenever i see a doctor they just try to concentrate on the ITP, but i am more concerned about the sleeping because it has affected my schooling a lot.

(also, how i found out that i had ITP is also strange. around the start of 2010, i slept for literally 7 days. my mum would shake me and wake me up, and force some food into my mouth but i would eat and drop again. after it got back to normal, we went to see a doctor and some doctors just said "it's fine, he is just a teenager" but one doctor told us to get blood tests and the results came back as ITP. and as i have said, tiredness has nothing to do with ITP according to the MANY doctors i've seen)

Jebodi:

It's possible that you had some sort of virus back when you were diagnosed, which could have caused both the platelet drop and the fatigue.

ITP can cause fatigue, but it's usually not that extreme. If possible, maybe your GP could run some additional tests, such as vitamin levels and a thyroid panel. My daughter went though a phase like that and it turned out that she had a thyroid disorder. My son also went though a sleeping all the time phase and we never did find anything wrong....we were also told 'he is a typical teenager'. I wouldn't give up on looking for another cause, because you do have a life to live and planning for your future is important.

I get tired all the time, but I have all the other symptoms of ITP. I would talk to your doctor and have other tests run. Like Sandi said, viruses can cause your count to drop.

I agree with sandi. I am tired when my counts are low but have other symptoms. It would be a good idea to rule out things like thyroid and vitamin deficiencies. What are your counts like?

Me too Gracie! I wonder if it will every end. I dislike doctors, I dislike blood draws and I mostly dislike prednisone!
