Never heard this, but I guess it might be to do with taking steroids and lowered immunity? How is your daughter doing recently anyway?

Hi,

Here in NZ there is a vaccination available for chicken pox. Is it available there? Have a chat with your Doctor. :)

I don't think having chicken pox with ITP would necessarily be devastating. It may lower her counts, but then, any illness could.

As Vanessa said, have you looked into the vaccine? Not sure if it's available in the UK.

Paisley had the Chicken Pox vaccine at 18 months (just before she got sick and dx with ITP). She had Rituximab in 2007. Last November my 8yr old got Shingles. I never even thought about it... but Paisley ended up with Chicken Pox 10 days later! The Rituxin had wiped out her vaccine. Luckily she didn't have too bad of a case and it did not touch her platelet count! :)
