Hey guys - Just wanted you to know that we have had no internet at home, so it has been hard to keep up. Wow - things sure change quickly with this site. I have read all your posts - Caitlin and possible lupus, Dougie and Roger, Tim - wow!!!

Danica had IVIg on Friday, and will have it again on the 30, as we will leave for Edmonton on the 1st of July for her appointment on the 2nd.

I am still waiting on the results of her thyroid antibodies. We never ever checked them again since her high count in October (not really high, but higher than normal). I am still adamant that we should not consider splenectomy until after we totally rule out any endocrine disorders.

I will let you know what happens, and I will be following your posts as well.

Good luck you guys.

Michelle - mom to Danica - age 13
Diagnosed 8-6-09
No response with Prednisone, WinRho or Rituximab.
over 60 IVIg infusions (every two weeks)
Three Decadron pulses - count was up while on the Decadron, and then fell as soon as it was stopped. SPLENECTOMY done 7-June-2011 Last count 594

Hey Michelle, just wanted to say good luck with the doctors next week, and I really hope that you get some alternatives in terms of treatments for Danica and some certainty and reassurance in terms of what you will do. I will be thinking of you. Hope that you are having a good shopping trip at the same time - it would be a shame to go all that way and not take advantage!

Ali ;)

Thanks Ali - nice to hear from you.

How is Roger doing? I am not really sure what has all happened with him (I tried to look back in some of your posts, but did not find one that explained a little more). What exactly did they find wrong with him? Was he admitted to the hospital???

Sorry, I wasn't clear - I meant discharged from her care, not from hospital. I think that their protocol means that she has to keep him on her books until she decides for definite that there is nothing wrong. God forbid that he ever needs to be in that hospital, because it took me about an hour to find my way from the outskirts of Liverpool to the hospital last time; I would be spending my entire life lost! I don't know what she thinks is wrong with his blood properly, probably nothing at all. The things I think she said were neutrophils and clotting screen, but then last time it was lymphocytes and platelets! I reckon though that if you take someone's blood often enough, you are bound to find things that are outside the norm sometimes, maybe he is just having a lot of viruses at the moment or something.

Hope you have a productive and (at least partially) enjoyable time in Edmunton.

Ali :)

P.S. Dougie had a whole lot of big blue bruises on his shins last night - I am back not liking ITP again!
