Steroids for 5 days was created by Hope and Faith
Hi All,

My child has chronic ITP. We treated with Steriods for 5 days for the first time. Platelets went from 4 to 36. What can we expect with her labs once we abruptly stop the steroids? Anything else to look out for?

How old is your daughter? How long has she had ITP? How much was the dose of steroid? Why the abrupt stop - even when I was put on it for serum sickness it was a tapered dose.

We would have no idea how your daughter's body will/would respond - maybe her count will go down, maybe not.

Good luck to her!

I would expect a drop and hope for a rise. It could go either way.
