Dougie's count today was 29. Yep, I know it doesn't sound like an awful lot, but given the last five years of sub-20 counts it really is.

After I accepted that ITP wasn't going to go away anytime soon - probably about 2 years in - I gave up wanting him to have normal counts, and settled for "safe and consistent". Given that he's nearly always had sub-20 counts, he hasn't achieved it till now, but his count in May was 34 and this one, almost the same at 29.

I am happy, Dougie is very happy ..... all in all, the world looks pretty good today :)

My haematolgist in Canterbury told me that ITP usually 'burns itself out' after a few years. Maybe it's time.

I've heard that too - it would be good if it happens but where he is at the moment is good too. We had a weird conversation about Dougie transferring to an adults consultant in the next year or so though so I am not sure his dr believes that :S

I'd forgotten the funny part of the consultation earlier. The dr asked if Dougie had any bruises at the moment - he looked slightly embarrassed as he confessed that he had several but they had been caused by playing paintball
