Bleeding but not a lot of petechiae was created by Matixsmom
Matix had a rough weekend with some bleeding. Nose bleed, gums bleeding, but not too terribly bad. Minimal bruising and I just thought for sure the next morning he would wake up full of petechiae, which is his norm. He never did. He did have some petechiae and some on his throat, but not bad. Has this ever happened before to anyone else? Waiting on CBC results now.

ITP is odd that way. You can't always count on symptoms to always be the same at a certain count, and you can't always predict a count by looking at symptoms. Every time a person thinks they know what to expect, something eventually happens that throws their theory off.

I've only had purpura once (purple splotches) and my counts were 50k. I never usually had any symptoms at all until I was below 20k (bruises and petechiae). Sometimes I had no symptoms at all.

Well, thats a great count anyway :)

I'd just like to concur with what Sandi says about being unable to predict counts. Last year, I was pretty hot at guessing my son's count - generally to within 5. This year I haven't got a clue.

Have they tested platelet function for Matix? Symptoms are as important as counts for high numbers as well as for low ones.
