Okay, Aaron got no response to the Rituxan in December. He has continued to stay 0-1000 and a jump to 4000-5000 once in a while. We did another dose of IVIG and now no response. In January, Aaron spent all month home with stomach issues. We finally figured out it was acid (gastritis) and he has been on Nexium since; which seems to keep it in check but it reminds us about once a week something is still going on. And, right now I think it is getting worse. Saw a gastroenterologist at Yale in February but that was horrid. I gave the nurse my theory on what the problem was and he walked in and spent the whole visit telling me I was wrong, he didn't check Aaron at all and he would ask me a question and before I finished the first sentence he was rebuking me. When I pushed for another theory than mine, he said there doesn't have to be a reason and if I must have one, Aaron is overweight. He was an a.. Total waste. On Monday we saw another gastro from Hasbro. He was very thorough but basically because of Aaron's extremely non-existent platelets, he can't do a colonoscopy or endoscopy so we are on the wait and keep taking the Nexium, added Probiotics and hope it will go away. We are doing another stool sample to check for Hyplori and if it comes out positive, we can move on with treatment. Otherwise, I need to get Aaron's platelets up somehow to do the procedure. Hence, I wanted feedback on others experiences on 6MP. Aaron has no response to prednisone, WinRho, IVIG and Rituxan. We are continuing with the Homeopath and he has been on a gluten, dairy, egg and peanut free diet since January 1st. He wants us to read Dr. Fuhrman's book and do his diet. Aaron is doing well, no bleeding considering. His headaches seems to have subsided, I think from the elimination diet. He is on a shorten school day to give him more time to sleep and not be as tired and get issues and have to come home. He has a tutor that comes once a week to get him caught up from the first semester. Still working on that. It has been a hell of a year so far. Unfortunately, I believe whatever is going on with his stomach is probably tying into whatever triggered the ITP to reoccur and if we can't fix that, his ITP will not resolve again. Thanks for listening and I hope I can get feedback on 6MP and other 2nd line treatments.

Hi Peg,
Sorry to hear about Aaron's ongoing struggles, although I'm glad he's not bleeding and doing better in some other areas. It sounds like it's been a really hard go for you. I was wondering how Aaron was doing so I was glad to see your post. Sorry for the long delay in a reply but my other (non ITP) daughter has been keeping me busy -- oy!

I don't know what 6MP is actually but I hope you get a good response from someone and/or that it works. Just wanted tyou to know that I had been thinking about you and Aaron and am sending prayers.

Best, Firkins
