I was wondering if anyone has had itp and found out their itp is caused by celiac disease, which is an intolerance to gluten. I'm just wondering if my daughter might have this. She often complains about stomach pain. Any thoughts ???

Is she having prolonged intestinal inflammation, gut problems ongoing? For me it wasn't celiac but something called fructose malabsorption. But the bottom line was that it is possible for prolonged irritation of the gut to have an effect on the immune system that is already not working properly. When I got my gut healed through diet changes (colonoscopy showed healed scars) I also got an ITP remission. NOTE that this remission also was at the time I had Rituxan treatments so I can't say with certainty the gut healing had an impact but I believe it did, and I stay on the diet that keeps me from being doubled over every day.

Instead of wondering why not ask for a simple blood test to find out if she has Celiac Disease?

This site is interesting and informative
