Starting back to childcare?

Starting back to childcare? was created by nimjohns
My almost 2 year old son has only been diagnosed with ITP for two short weeks. The first two weeks we kept him home with my wife, myself, or other family members while monitoring his symptoms. On Friday he was back down to 4 and had IVIG which had him up to 42. The doctor suggested taking him back to childcare for the week while his platelets are higher. No bleeding since diagnosis and the severe bruising especially on his torso are diminishing. Do you have guidelines for when to use childcare for your toddler with ITP?

Its probably a matter of what you as his parents are comfortable with. If he isn't bleeding and if you are confident that the childcare arrangements are safe for your son, I would let him go back personally. ITP can sometimes be quite a drawn out thing, and you don't want to put life on hold indefinitely. I would have a REALLY GOOD chat with the nursery and give them written instructions of what to do, who to contact etc if they have ANY problems with him. Maybe consider a helmet for wear at nursery and home?

Good luck - hopefully it will disappear quite quickly :)
