Would you get this checked out? was created by grasshopper
My 5 year old feel and hit her hip yesterday at school. She has a big black and purple bruise which is normal , but it is swollen just like a golf ball. I'm pretty sure it's fine but a small part of me is a little concerned and I just need reasurance that I don't need to get it checked. What do you think? By the way I'm guessing her count is about 20.

Hello Grasshooper ... It is probably nothing but with a count of 20 I would definitely go and get it checked out. It wouldn't hurt.
Your daughter only has itp? I would like to talk to you. I have a 6 year old girl who has been recently diagnosed with itp and I'm so stressed out. I would get it checked just to be safe. Does she have any other bruising or petichea?

With a count in the 20k range, I would suggest getting it checked. The golf ball size lump tell me that there may be a bleed that is not clotting.

Sounds like a hematoma. They usually resolve, but it never hurts to get checked out.

Definitely wouldn't hurt to get it checked out. If my son gets a bruise from an injury (and not just one that shows up) there is usually a lump with it. Even with counts in the 30's and 40's. But it goes down when we put ice on it. So you could try that in the mean time.
