I know Drs are starting to acknowledge fatigue as a symptom but has anyone ever noticed shortness of breath and general weakness as symptoms? My son on several occasions has reported sudden onset of as he describes weakness. He says his legs feel like they can't hold him up. Weird thing is, it'll pass as quickly as it started, then happen again. His counts since day one just "hover" from 20k-40k. He's never bottomed out as it seems so many here have but that's what his hematologist is concerned about. It's not "typical" behavior of most ITP cases he sees. Any thoughts?

I get a feeling deep in my chest sometimes - I don't know if I'd describe it as a shortness of breath, but it's breath related. It's weird - almost feels like when you accidentally breathe a little water in and an hour later you have that watery feeling. It's a really deep in the chest feeling.

As for weakness, sometimes I can't even climb the stairs when my numbers are low! And I do have very fast moments of "ok I have to sit down - NOW" as well. And then I'm ok. I have found a lot of that is diet for me - with ITP, if I let myself get overly hungry, I get very weak very quickly. So cliff bars are good for a boost sometimes, or between meals.

My numbers tend to be like your sons - I stick around 20-30.

Yes I get a sort of weird feeling in the chest sometimes which feels heavy, like something is pressing on my chest and stopping me breathing properly. It goes along with that awful "must sit down NOW" fatigue for me too. If it's the same then it doesn't seem to be very common as when we've discussed it before here I think it was only Kittie and me who experience it.

I think you're right Ann! You're the only other one whose talked about that feeling.

I have to admit I've had that feeling for the last few days. But a lot of stress lately may have triggered a drop for me (a close friend passed away).

I'm trying to "wait and see", cause honestly, I hate going to get my numbers and if they're really low go through all that goes with that. No petechia, no bruises, no blisters in my mouth - just the chest thing. Maybe it's a broken heart :(
