Aaron's seems to be stable and his new norm for this bout is 10K. We got one bump to 33K and last week at 15K. He looks and feels great. He has had 2 small nosebleeds but it is also very hot. I am grateful that he is staying at 10K, because I didn't want to fight with the hemo about treatments. I have decided that Aaron's drop went over months and his body has adjusted to the low counts. If I treat him, all it will do is spike him and then cause a quick drop and bleeding symptoms because the body doesn't have time to adjust. His PA hemo seems to understand my wishes, just not sure about the regular hemo because of all that we went through before. Of course, I have seen a big change over the years in how they feel about treating the symptoms and not the counts. Though, I would feel much better if he would go up closer to 20K. We had planned for Aaron to work at Cub Scout camp this summer and I decided that it be best for him to continue with his life. We dealt with ITP for 6 years (age 5-11) and 5 years of remission. He is now 16 and if this ITP continues, he has to learn to live with it. He is working in the kitchen and Aaron is not daring or active so I don't need to worry so much about activity level. I must say when we dropped him off, there was a sign on the floor slippery when wet and no where was there any mats. My husband and I ran out to Home Depot and bought slip proof mats and put them in the kitchen next to the dishwashing sink. I saw an accident ready to happen. He has made it through one week and 5 more to go. Then, he will go straight to Summer Camp himself, Robotics and Technology Week. He should have fun. I recognize some parents that are still here and since I know kids live with consistent counts less than 10K, I feel blessed at 10K. Hope everyone has a wonderful safe summer.
