My kittle boy got Itp when he was Four years old. He went through several different treatments before having Rituximab. This worked for him, he has had good counts for three years. Two weeks ago he started feeling tired more than ususal and the bruises were back, then the Petichia. Today I noticed very large petichia spots on his ankles and took him in to see his ped, she said he had HSP and was worried to find a small trace of blood in his urine. His platelet count was 319k, so he wasn't admitted thank God! But now I'm left to worry what will come of this, the docs said his ITP would go away and not to worry but they were wrong! Does anyone know more about this HSP, and has anyone of your kids had this along with ITP? Any comments are appreiciated!:(

Did the doctor give you any other information? According to this article, www.medicinenet.com/henoch-schonlein_purpura/article.htm , it usually only lasts about a month and seldom re-occurs.

No other info except that he needed to have his urine monitered because blood in the urine is a sign that it is affecting his kidneys. I was told that his itp would go away and not to worry, but that didn't happen! They said this hsp will go away, but from what I have been reading, sometimes it doesn't! I'm very worried that this could get bad, maybe I shouldn't have read so much fom other parents of kids who have hsp. I was hoping someone here would know more about this hsp thing! Pdsa ppl are the best!

Well so far, his ITP did go away - sounds like he is in remission. It just took some time.
