So this is the response we always seem to get with my 5yr. old.
I have posted before in regards to my 5yr old.
He has had ITP for 2yrs and recently started having new symptoms.
Right around the time we stopped 6MP, my sons counts somewhat stabilized instead of crashing. Staying above 50.
He normally only had bruising and petechia under 20 but started having it when he was staying in the 80's. Numerous test were done and all showed some abnormality in bleeding time they were worried about them being accurate so they did a platelet wash and found nothing.
I was preparing my sons bath and he was going potty. I turned towards him and was shocked to see him peeing blood and the toilet water already resembled a dark brown tea. I was horrified and paged Hemo. We were seen immediately and that is when we we got the most recent test which was the Platelet aggregation which came came very abnormal.
Ultasound for stones did not find anything so they did a CT which also found nothing. The ultasound showed there was some sort of kidney issue in which they are sending us to a nephrologist. We were released two days later and will do Rituxin starting Tues. His platelet count in the hospital was 70. Who know if one has anything to do with the other!!! They just tell me they are not sure. What they do know is that there is a platelet dysfunction as well as ITP. I am thinking this was a result of the 6MP but they are skeptical. Any thoughts? I feel he is a time bomb and they have once again restricted him to indoor play only. We are treated at Dallas Childrens and they always consult his case with the other Hemos. so I feel we are in good hands, I just feel I am in the dark. I understood ITP, I dont understand the rest!!
