It seems like it has been forever since i have last posted. I would love to say that ITP is a thing of the past for us but Devyn is still dealing with it.....but i have to say that he is still doing good considering itp is still a reality. He has not had to go for many cbc's his last one was in Sept and he was at 115,000 :) We will be going back to his hemo in a couple months and if counts are still above 100,000 then she will just transfer him back into the care of his pediatrician....who is amazing and actually dealt with having ITP himself when he was younger. I know that Devyn still deals with lower counts especially when he is sick, all signs point to it without me even getting a cbc done. He started school in Sept and I have a hard time getting his teacher to understand that when his counts are low he becomes very emotional and behaves differently. She just thinks its him not listening and being a cry baby. I get so frustrated because i just want him to lead a normal life but i also need her to understand that he is 4 and has no idea why he feels the way he does

Does anyone else find that when there child is low that they become more emotional?

Hi Deanna!
Glad Devyn is starting to have some great counts!
My son gets emotional when his numbers are low as well as dark circles under his eyes. They always go hand in hand. He normally is a happy go lucky kid until he drops. Then everything is a fight and he just acts tired. I have yet to understand why this is not listed as a symptom for ITP when so many others have the same issues.

Hi Deanna,

Its really good to hear from you - I was wondering how Devyn was doing a few weeks back. I can't believe he is big enough to go to school now!!!! Its good that his count has generally been a bit higher than it used to, but a bloody nuisance that it won't stay there! I think Dougie would happily trade a count of around 50 for some consistency; its the constantly changing restrictions/non-restrictions on activity that get to him.

Deanna, my son is 5 and was diagnosed in 2010. He has issues when his counts are low as well. He is more cranky than usual and says he feels fuzzy (usually around 30,000). I know roughly what his counts will be weekly just by his signs.
