Gallstones anyone?

Gallstones anyone? was created by Trollsmom
I was a member on here with the old boards. My son was diagnosed with ITP at 8 years old in the fall of 2008. He has never had any treatment and his counts bounced around for a while before slowly crawling up towards normal. His last count was in January and was 135k.The one six months before was 124k. The hemo said he is considered chronic because his counts have never been normal and may never be, but they are close enough that he is able to do everything he wants.

Not long after being diagnosed he started to have stomach pains. We had him tested for H pylori and it came back negative. He has had these pains off and on for the last 3 years. Last week, he came home from school on Tuesday because his stomach hurt. I called and made an appointment with his pediatrician for Wednesday. We went in and she scheduled an ultrasound and blood tests on his liver and for food allergies. Thursday he came home from school again. On Friday he had the ultrasound and they found gallstones. We can't see the GI doctor until 3-14.

My question of you is, have any of your children had gallstones? My sister in law who is a doctor told me that, in her exact words, "I assume they checked him for weird blood cell stuff with the thrombocytopenia. There's an association with anemias where blood cells are broken down and gallstones".

Just curious

Our boy got them this summer. We cut Vit. C supplements immediately (we were giving him large doses). You can do lemon juice in water every single morning and night. 8oz. of water with just a tsp. or less of lemon juice. The acid helps to break up the stones. An olive oil and apple juice flush will also kick out the stones (although it's not pleasant). For now, I'd do the lemon juice and water because it's easy, doesn't taste horrible, and effective. If you've got that long until an appt. they may break up and pass by then. Took our boy about a week to feel better with the lemon juice and water remedy.
