Its been a while since Ive been on here. Its been pretty hard for me and I needed some time to adjust and get my head on straigt. Im finally off all the prednisone (party over here) Its been a tough year for me. I saw a foot dr last week for sever foot pain, turns out I was right this wasnt steriod related. I have plantar facities (sp). But was told to take some adivl and do special exercisie and get some inserts. Over all its been helping--he did suggest a steriod injection. I happily said NO. But on some other news I just found out Im pregnant. Im not really sure how far along, but plan to make an appt on monday and go from there. I guess everything happens for a reason.

Jen - you just made my jaw drop! Is this happy news? If so, congratulations! I'm speechless!

Inserts helped my husband with his plantar. I'm glad you found out what the problem is.

Sandi,
Its happy news. It wasnt expected...but I will make the best of it.

The inserts I got were actually really cheap and at sports chalet. We will see how it all goes. My hema is on vacation next week, so obviously I stopped the plaquenil and imuran. I will call my rhema on monday as well and get advise as to what to do about that. I know both arent suppose to be taken when pregnant. Im still kinda in shock. Like I said I didnt expect it but my boyfriend and I are happy.

Congratulations, Jennifer!

I have heel spurs, also called plantar facitis. I have insoles too. I was given a cortisone shot many moons ago and I thought the dr was trying to pin my foot to the table! Never did it again. Good luck.

Jennifer plantar fasciitis is very painful, sorry you have it. Hope the inserts will help. Was a splint to be worn while sleeping mentioned - my friend used that.

Steroid injection - I have had them in the tops of my feet for morton's neuroma, most recently for a tendon problem in my foot causing pain and in my wrist below the thumb for thumb tendonitis. Can't have them often though, think only every 4 months because they can cause damage if get too often. It has taken care of the thumb tendonitis.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I just finished taking care of our year old granddaughter for 6 hours - any time spent with her is THE best time of my life!! These little ones are miracles for sure!!

Cindy did the doctor numb the area first - my PA does with some kind of spray.

Melinda, if I remember correctly, yes he did. Probably just wasn't ready for the shot. My poor husband couldn't move his hand for a while after!

I had my first OB appt yesterday. I may need to see a high risk ob, but his partner is one so at least I wont need to change offices. Im 5weeks and next week I go for my first ultrasound. He seemed pretty shocked that my platelet count was 38--Im very happy with that number but he will speak to my hema. So for the time being Im hoping all the blood tests (yes more blood) is ok.

Are you still on Imuran? How long you are on Imuran?
My wife is also on Imuran for last 4 months now, with little effect.

I had my first ultrasound on Friday. Got to see a heartbeat...made it so much more real.

kievselva--I was on Imuran for 9 months, it helped my counts we think cant be sure if it was that or the rituxian. But the imuran cannot be taken while pregnant the plaquenil my OB said if I really need it then we can but he would prefer I didnt.

Jennifer that is so exciting you got to see the baby move for the first time - it just blows the mind what is created from one sperm and one egg!! Won't be long until you are
in your 2nd trimester.

Sorry about the morning sickness - thought I'd pass this hint along. Was reading a Dr. Weil column in which he said "Acupressure can help prevent postoperative nausea and vomiting [PONV], a common side effect fo anesthesia." and suggested wristbands that can be found in the drug store. I went online to find them because I was curious if they were the ones I used on a small ship [42 passengers] cruise one night before going to bed when the waters were very choppy - they worked, no motion sickness. Reading about them they are suggested for morning sickness too. There are instructions as to how to figure out where to place the "dot" so it is on the acupressure point [P6]. They are inexpensive, you might want to check them out at Walgreens
