Have just had a wonderful 10 days, yes 10, celebrating my 60th birthday & our 40th wedding anniversary.
Not a party girl & being pretty busy with family, farm & community life, we enjoyed a couple of days in a seaside holiday area. Caught up with some relatives & friends on the way, & the kids treated us to a massage.
Thought 'right, that's done & dusted, moving right on with life' . . .
Then on Friday night my family surprised me with a celebration including 33 adults, grandies being baby sat, finger food catered for at a local venue with accommodation for our guests!
I have just waved the last of them off & feel wrung out, but absolutely blessed by everyone's involvement, their lovely gestures & generous acknowledgment of our milestones.

Happy birthday and anniversary! Sounds like you had a great time!

My kids surprised us with a party for our 25th anniversary. They wouldn't tell us where we were going, just said that we had to get dressed up. They bought me a dress and shoes, and bought my husband clothes as well that we had to wear. The dress was a size too small and the shoes were a size too big, but we went and ended up walking into a banquet room filled with family and friends. It was great!

Sandi, that's hilarious!

We actually attended a funeral in the city 2 1/4 hours away during the day, parked in Central Market (fresh food market) & I would have stayed browsing for hours. Greg was dragging me along as friends had offered to take us out for dinner on our return.
So, just time for a change, slapped on some 'face', grabbed the closest comfy dress & we were escorted in their car with wine, nibbles & flowers . . . I still had no idea.
After winding around the town (very small - only took 5 minutes!) we drove past a venue with cars, people etc. & I looked & thought 'that's my bunting'!! Then I saw the grandies & absolutely lost it, makeup was a waste of time.
Everyone had, in their own way, made a real effort to attend & I am grateful that my friends don't care if my hair hadn't been 'done' or my legs shaved!

We threw my parents a surprise 50th ten years ago! Even had my mom make here egg salad sandwiches just so I knew there would be something there I liked. Hard to believe it's been that long!
