We will miss you so much when you stop being Moderator!

Who will calm our fears and wipe our tears?
Who will stop our squabbles and admire our baubles?
Where will we get advice?
Who will we ask, who is up to the task?

I am sorry you are leaving, but I understand it is probably quite a strain for you. I hope you will have time to focus on your own health issues. And I hope we get some one who is competent and compassionate. The moderator can make or break the discussion group. I was a member of a different group, but the moderator was so down and demeaning of anyone asking a question, that everyone was afraid to post anything. If you asked a simple question he would say, "Didn't you read the intro pages? Why do I have to answer you when it is on the first page?" I left the group.

I feel like we are losing a friend. :(

Thank you, Sandi, for 'being there' for me over the past 11 years.
Your wisdom, compassion, support, encouragement & humour literally got me through the Itp journey!
I have often wondered how you cope, so am pleased you are now relieving yourself of a huge undertaking. Many blessings in the next 'chapter'. You may even get 'down under' - cruises are very popular!!
Big hug,
Meredith.

Sandi, you have done an amazing job at moderating this group for many years. I can imagine that it'll be a relief to be able to step away from talking and thinking about ITP so much. You will be missed, but I'm glad you've made the decision to focus on yourself!

You've touched so many people by responding, discussing, and sharing, and that's got to feel good. Well done, and hope "retirement" treats you well.

I also would like to add my thanks, you were such a calming and knowledgeable voice for me. I can imagine being moderator was a full time plus commitment.

I am really glad that you were here when we started our journey.

Dear Sandi,

You have been an exceptionally fine moderator, and will always be our moderator emeritus.

We will miss your knowledge, of course, but more than that we will miss your wisdom. Many of us you have talked down from full panic, and many others you have coaxed to overcome denial and get something checked out. You have taught us to know enough to participate in our own medical decisions, and when necessary to stand up to doctors.

More than anything, we will miss your kindness, and your ability to always find just the right kind words when we needed them. You have many friends here, Sandi, and I hope you will remain among us as a friend.

Rob

You're all making me cry. Thanks for the kind words. All of you have made me laugh, made me cry, caused me to be happy, caused me to lose sleep....many emotions over many years. I've made so many friends (and probably some enemies) along the way. I was always here because I wanted to be, not because I had to.

I think this place could use a fresh face with fresh ideas. You'll all be just fine.

You really did a great job here. I've been on a lot of forums in a lot of places online for a very long time, and I'm still telling people about how exceptional the PDSA is, and much of that comes down to you, Sandi. I get that you need to go, but you will be missed.

Sandi,

I think you answered all my posts, and I valued all your advice. Because of you I am sure I still have my spleen, I have a different specialist at a different hospital, I feel more at ease with this condition and if it wasn't for this forum and your advice and support I am sure my experience of all this would have been very different.

I am truly grateful and I wish you well.

Sandi,
Thank you so much for helping me during my sister's diagnosis and treatments. You taught me to be vocal and not just accept what a doctor says to do but to trust yourself as well. Please know how much your wisdom and kindness will be missed.

Wow I'm glad I stopped by and saw this. Sandi, you should be so proud of your work here, you've made such a difference for so many people. More than most people can do in a life of work.

Maybe you can write an e-book about how to be a good forum moderator, just a thought in case you get bored :)

Thank you for the compliment. Not a bad idea. Wouldn't know how to go about getting it published online though!

Thank you, Sandi for all your very helpful information so generously given. The amazing support from you and the community has given me the courage to change doctors, make my own decisions, refuse over-medication, get to know and trust my own body, and not panic when platelets are low. My spleen thanks you too!

Its important to take care of yourself- good for you! Best wishes for your next chapter.

I have not been on this site long enough to know all the contribution Sandi made last almost 20 years and I cannot imagine how exhausting it could be for Sandi to have the 24/7 365 days a year duty, however, I know how important it was for me to be able to hear her last few months to find the right treatment so fast. Thank you, Sandi, and wish you all the best for your health.

Well, call me slow, but I just saw this news. As sad as it is for you to step down, I understand the demands an active board can make on someone's life... Especially a person who is as devoted as you've been for years.

I don't know what to say, really, except that you've made a more positive impact on my life than you can ever imagine. My ITP is a whole different beast from what it was before I found this board and you, Sandi. Take justifiable pride in what you've done here for so many people. I'll miss seeing you daily, but really hope you'll pop in often with bits of advice and wisdom

Best wishes ahead.
Janet

Sandy, I am a bit slow too since I just read all of these posts!! So, I know it has been hard for you to continually monitor everyone!!

I do know from the very beginning with my ITP, you were the one to keep my hopes up and to keep me going. I think that it is now time to spend time on yourself. Please do check in and let us know how you are doing. You will always be on my mind and I will worry about you, too.

I am sure who ever is replacing you will be an asset to the board. It just won't be the same without you! The forum sure has changed over the years! The names of people have changed yet there was always one constant! Her name was Sandi even my daughter remembers her by name!
