Steven and I have been watching reruns of "Emergency", and last nights episode was about a young boy who had bruises that weren't healing. Dr. Bracken diagnosed him with ITP! They gave his steroids and got his counts up to normal. I never thought a show I used to watch would have an episode with a problem that I would have many years later!

Isn't it great they gave the boy predisone and his count went back to normal so quickly ;)

Yep, John was kind of cute. I haven't watched that show in many years.

House once had an episode of ITP too. Took him a whole hour to diagnose it and as usual, probably came close to killing the patient to get the diagnosis. That show always did crack me up. Too many medical errors and I usually got the diagnosis before he did.

I remember that show. I watched both the live-action and animated versions once upon a time. I don't recall the ITP episode though; maybe I missed that one.

Aoi, that episode was in the second season, one of the first 5.

I liked Joe Early, too.

Nurse Dixie automatically asked if they were going to do a splenectomy, but Dr. Bracken said no, steroids. I missed the House episode about ITP.

There is no "House, M.D." episode in which ITP is the final diagnosis. There is one in which ITP is considered, and another in which TTP is the final diagnosis. I guess ITP was just too obscure or dull for a show like that. Maybe I can find the "Emergency" episode online. I'm curious to see if I'll recognize it, or maybe I just missed it.

I've got the boxed set of House.. love it. Never heard of the other programme you're talking about. I do like medical dramas, I enjoy diagnosing before they do.

For those who have Amazon Prime, "Emergency!" seems to be available there. I haven't tried to stream any episodes yet, and tried to find the episode mentioned above using Wikipedia's episode guide but couldn't locate it.

Well I guess I quit watching that show in the middle of the episode. I got too frustrated with House to watch it very often. My husband used to watch it and I'd catch it here and there.

Minor correction: I checked Amazon Prime last night and found that "Emergency!" is not available for free, or even for paid streaming. Netflix anyone?

It is on Netflix - 7 seasons - didn't check if can stream it but it is on disc. Total of 32 discs it looks like - Season 7 only has 2 discs.

"Saddled" is Season 2, Disc 2 from 1972
