(Was going to reply to Winnifred's comments under 'Mother's Day' topic but decided to create new one.)

We love camping - from the little camp fire in the back yard to full on camper trailer adventures. Have been dreaming of travelling to the North West of Australia & exploring the Kimberley region for over 30 years. It is finally going to happen in July! We bought a new off road camper trailer with kitchen facilities. Have most gear we need from years of experimenting & advice from experienced campers.
As for the dirty hands, I found wearing gloves & using a good hand cream helps.

Time is getting away from me - I have 2 baby quilts to make before we go!

We would camp with a tent and sleeping bags - of course the air mattress I had under my sleeping bag always ended up being the one with a leak in it.

I will have to remember the gloves thing or at least the cream thing next year!

Before I went camping this year I bought a new sleeping bag and a piece of foam. I had a decent sleeping bag but it wasn't really my size!

So I spent a little extra and went to a proper store. Got a youth mummy bag since i'm petite. I had self inflating mat but my arthritis has been bad so I added the piece of foam. For the first time ever I actually slept through the night! Wishing I had done it sooner!

Never camped in a trailer always a tent. I want to buy a couple of tents I want a 2 man and a 4 man, but I want them to be the same height and type so I can put the 4 man fly over my 2 man tent!

My most favorite part of camping is the campfire!

I went camping once. The sign at the entrance said HILTON. It was pretty nice...

We had a 'long' weekend here & celebrated 2 grandies birthdays - 5 & 7.
Yesterday we had (daughter's) home made pizzas with family & friends outdoors on a mild winter day.
Today we had a camp fire on the farm with (son's) camp oven veggies & BBQ meats. The birthday cake was a chocolate campfire cake!
I got my 'fix' for a month before we go on our big adventure. . .

My goal is to get a decent tent so I can go camping by myself! That way in the summer when I have 2-3 days off in a row I can go and just enjoy the outdoors!

Hilton wow Jeffrey you were really roughing it! lol

Baby quilts are finished, baked goodies in the oven.
Had my 6 month check up with hematologist yesterday, got the OK to go. (Platelet count 30). He gave me Tranexamic tablets in case of emergency bleeding (I really don't want to have to use the Royal Flying Doctor Service for a nose bleed) & said I could also go on steroids. I told him my companions would put me in the trailer if I did!! Don't fancy traveling 10,000 kilometres that way.
This adventure has been weighing down the bucket list for years so I'm looking forward to emptying it before it gets rusty & leaks out!

Have a great time, MJ! You are much further along on your bucket list than I am. Maybe I need to lower my goals a bit, like....make a pot of coffee, take a vitamin, and wash a load of clothes. I'd be able to meet those!

MJ enjoy we all need to take holidays even if it is only for a few days.

We have an overnight camping trip planned for August. The ladies I do my brownies with and a lady who has never been camping in her life. I took a couple of stat days at work.

My job will be making campfire! I can start a campfire with 1 match. I've even made campfire in rain. I am so looking forward to it!

On a side note my ex dropped of some of my stuff at my friends and among the stuff was my old tent. At some point I'm going to set it up to see if it is still in one piece! Here's hoping it is and I do not have to buy a new one!

Hello, I'm home! How has everyone been?
We had a great trip, safe travel & no vehicle or trailer issues. The Kimberley region is very spectacular & all we imagined & more!
I struggled with heat some days hiking through rocky gorges but otherwise coped well.
Detoured on way home to visit daughter & 3 little boys who were all very ill with a dreadful virus going around & I copped it. Have spent the week recovering & unpacking.
The sun is shining & it's good to be home.

So glad you had a great time and enjoyed! The new camper was good huh? I need to research the Kimberley regio. Now the fun part - getting back to the "normal" routine.

Sorry your grandsons shared the virus with you - our 5 year old granddaughter just started school on 8/13, a week later she was sick, norovirus was making the rounds. Luckily she kept it to herself.

Thank Melinda,
Yes, the trailer was great - too big for our needs & we took far too much 'stuff' but we managed. Our son & his family of three boys will use it a lot more than us hopefully. And if I win the lottery & get to go again I will buy a 'yip-yah-you-beaut' all inclusive off road truck with the works! I'm getting too old & grumpy to be putting the camper trailer up & down every night!

Glad you were able to enjoy your trip even though you picked up a virus! Sounds like a perfect vacation anyone who has a perfect vacation needs to rest up afterwards!
