If you mean an office suite then Apache OpenOffice is popular.

www.openoffice.org/

However, if you mean add ons to Office, then what do you want it to do?

I think NeoOffice is free. It's for Mac. Don't know much about it, but someone in my office uses it to open and work in WordPerfect docs. (Don't know about Word.)

Sandi, all you need is google docs. Google docs is now known as google drive. Everything is free and stored in the cloud.

You need a google email to use it, which is of course free.

Here is a video that is an overview of google drive:

Here is a video on how to create documents on google drive

It's great and easy to share docs if others need to see it or work on it. The calendar is great too.

I just want to be able to write letters and such. I had a free program, but it suddenly stopped working. I tried to download two programs last night, but they were trash and added junk to my computer which I'm still trying to get rid of. I have Windows 7, I think.

If you know someone that is going to college they normal will get multiple downloads of Microsoft office each year. That is how I get mine. Typically they are full programs are very easy to download. You will just need their download stuff.
