Thank you, my ITP friends, for the daily smiles. I especially need them now.

Tuesday we had a mighty storm that wrecked our crops, particularly barley & canola. Have to keep reminding myself I'm grateful I don't live in the Blue Mountains near Sydney where there have been horrific bush fires destroying several hundred homes. However it is very distressing, especially when we had such a good growing season & crops looked so promising. It has been an unusual Spring & we anticipate a frustrating harvest.

Awh that's a bit hard MJ, I hope you can salvage some crops. We are having a bit of a tough time in the land down under at the moment.. Aren't we.
We are about half an hour from the state mine fire so we are getting lots of smoke. I am at the moment arranging a fund raising BBQ for the blue mountains people that lost so much in the fires, not a big thing but I guess every little bit helps.
I hope you are going ok :-)

Hi Milly,
Yes, we really are OK - just a bit despondent & concerned for the rest of the harvest.

I'm glad you're safe at this stage. It must have been very worrying for you & your family.
Good on you for organizing some fund raising - hope it goes well. We will donate through Red Cross or something similar. Years ago when we had the dreadful fires on Eyre Peninsula some local girls organized shoe boxes of goodies for the women. Sent hundreds of boxes over.

Finished harvest late last night. Despite cool weather, a truck out of action & a few minor header breakdowns, all went well. (Got rejected at the silo for having a gum nut in the sample of wheat!!) We reapt barley, wheat, lentils & canola. I even got my 'fix' on the chaser bin occasionally when our son was really busy shifting bins or managing cleaning machines.
Had a thunder storm during the night & light rain this morning. Enjoyed breakfast on the deck together & a leisurely walk on the beach. Been weeks since we spent any time together. Now I have to adjust to having my man around the house a bit more!!
