I couldn't get to the hospital today because most of Calgary is under water. Never had floods like it in anyones living memory. Going without my N Plate for one day is nothing compared to what other people are having to endure. Over 10% of the city's population were in shelters last night wondering if they homes in which to return. I pray for them.

How awful it all sounds... Seeing the news it doesn't seem real and I am in Edmonton near by! Crazy! Good thoughts sent your way and hope life can soon return to "normal" whatever that is... Hope you get your nplate soon too and don't throw things off!

Hard to believe that Calgary could be underwater! The news showed some of the areas that were flooded, the Saddledome, Stampeders field. Wow! Hope all our Western friends stay dry and safe!
And get back in to their homes if they had to evacuate.

We are safe; I am grateful for many things: ITP is not life threatening; I had ITP well before NPlate; I went for many weeks and maybe months before with counts below 10K and I've always wanted to live on an island :) (we live on a hill overlooking the city)
We have in our home an evacuated family, some dogs and cats whose owners are trapped in other places, which makes for fun times!
They say the Stampede will go ahead in two weeks, Downtown is closed until at least midweek - more fun times!!!

Saw on the hockey game last night that the rivers are starting to recede. This is good news.

Hopefully the Stampede will do well!

That is horrible! Glad you are all right Christine! Take care!

[and here in Colorado it is just the opposite - dry and wild fires burning - my grass is gasping for water it can't have as we are on water restrictions]

Yes the floodwaters are receding - leaving a terrible mess. I have family in CO so have been following the widfire situation. They are away from the fires (Montrose) but have a cattlefeed ranch so they are hurting. I would gladly send some of our moisture if I could. Take Care

Hope things improve I had to do some internet search to see what this topic was about. Do not have TV. Horrible picture must mean it is much worse in real life.

Stay safe!

Hope things are still improving Christine! I had forgotten you have family in Montrose - a beautiful location I think. We are having a good thunderstorm right now, haven't seen rain in ages. Not sure if Montrose got any or not.

Did you know Montrose received an award? It was one of ten cities awarded the2013 All-America City award from the National Civic League.
