This may be a dumb question-Rituxan

I was reading a few different articles about ITP and Rituxan and the response rate. I am curious...when do you say it is Week 1, 2, 3, 4...12? Is week 1 the first day of your infusion or is it one week later (the day of your 2nd infusion)? She got her first infusion on Feb. 24th and finished treatment on March 10th. So next week, I am assuming we will be getting her counts at week 5??? Is that how it works? I am noticing there are alot of jumps between weeks 6-8 so I think we have about 3, maybe 4 more weeks of waiting to go before knowing whether the response will be partial, complete, or no response at all. I asked my dr about those people who have responses around 6 months later, and she said in children, if that happens...she believes it would have happened with or without Rituxan.

By the way...Caitlin is doing good. Got over her serum sickness but she is complaining off and on about "burning" skin~just out of the blue, nothing particular happened before or during this. I thought maybe it was dry skin so I had her put lotion on, but it didn't really help. (It's not continuous...just an off and on complaint these last few days.) She also had a bad headache for 3 days earlier this week, but it is gone. On the plus side, she did some tumbling last night and hasn't really done that in a while; still has all her skills and she didn't get a single bruise. Noone believes me that she was really sick and couldn't move just two weeks ago!

Pauline you might get more responses if you put this in a different section than Social Chat, some people don't come to this section.

Your question is very interesting! Some people would say your 1st birthday is the day you
are born - that's what went through my head when reading your question about Week 1.

Glad to hear Caitlin is doing good!

I say I got a response in the fourth week, and what I mean by that is the day I was to receive infusion #4, so three weeks beyond the day I got the first infusion. It's very unclear, I agree! Erica

And she was!

I also count the first infusion day as week 1 and go from there.

I also have burning skin. It's hard to describe, but I would say it's like being out in the cold for a long time and then sticking your skin in warm water...that kind of burn feeling. It makes me crazy and is very annoying. It is worse in extreme temperatures - hot and cold and I believe it is a nerve ending problem.

Thanks! So that means next week will be week 6. That helps! I am so eager to get results because she really looks good right now!
