Bad Day was created by Angel85
I had an incredibly bad day yesterday. First i had a bad day at work, i kept getting problem customer and just took time to solve their issues. Then i find out my dad lost his job and he wasn't given any warning at all, the first he was told about it was a 9am yesterday morning that his position was no longer relevent in the new company restructure they had done and a hire car was to take him home at 9:30am (he had a company ute) and had to give his phone back and lost all his personal numbers. Then to top it off, my sister and brother in laws house was broken into last night while they were out shopping. Looks like only some money from a money box was taken, but all their stuff is everywhere, so all in all a not very good day. I just hope i get some positive news back on my blood test today.

Sorry to hear that Lauren, boy this has to be really tough for your family, hopefully your Dad can get another job. It must be so hard to leave a workplace under those circumstances, how awful for him and your family. Your poor sister it is awful to think someone has been in your house(we were broken into once) it was awful.

Hopefully your test results will be good and put a bit of positive news into the family, thinking of you and your family at this hard time.

Thanks, it seems he has been able to get a job already and no interview. My uncle mentioned what happened to his mate and his mate said he can start next week. He is a truck driver and although he has been out off a truck and in a supervisor role in an office for the last 2 years, he is still a very respected member of the trucking community. He is getting around $17 and and a half thousand in redundancy pay and he is going for unfair dismissal because he wasn't given any warning and wasn't offered another job or re-training in the company which is what they should do before termination is decided on.

Well that is good news for your Dad and good for him as far as the unfair dismissal sounds like he has good grounds to do so. Maybe if he is in a union they maybe able to help with the legal side of this.

How did your counts go?

Yeah, very good news, it is less stress. My sister is getting married in October and just good to know that when the redundancy pay goes into the bank, the wedding is basically paid for and we will still have some money left over and we won't have to worry about money to live on cause he will be getting paid every week or fortnight (not sure how thats gonna happen yet) again.

My counts are still low, they were 13, but I think I am finally making my peace with the fact they are always gonna be low and am gonna stop stressing what my counts are every week and just live my life without that added stress hanging over my head every week and know that I am strong enough to live my life safely with the platelet counts I have.

Thanks. I have decided i haven't been as positive as i want to be and want to take charge of my life and not be stressed over something i don't seem to have any control over.

I'm not really a bleeder and even now at 13, i don't seem to have a lot of bruises or petechia so i'm not getting symptoms. Even the doctors i saw in Sydney earlier this year said the low counts seem to be more of a problem for the docs then for me and my hematologist and i have decided to just do a wait and watch for a while and still seeing him every 8 weeks just to check in instead of being more aggresive with doing more treatments. I'm quite happy and relaxed with that decision as there isn't a lot of other options left, pred again, cyclosporon again and splenectomy none of which i want to do unless the low counts become a real danger to me.

Lauren that is wonderful news about your Dad's new job!! Phew!!

Sorry your count is still at 13k. It sounds however that you are taking the right attitude and I'm happy for you for that. I have a friend who has used the phrase 'put on your big girl panties' and that always makes me smile.
