Anyone have a Kindle? was created by Melinda
I'm curious if anyone has a Kindle, normal one not the 3G, and downloads books from the computer with the USB cable? If so does it take long?

We aren't wireless so would need the 3G if didn't want to download via the USB cable. Was
thinking of getting my husband a Kindle - if doesn't take long to download then would get him the normal one not the 3G one.

I have a sony ereader, which is not available with wireless or 3G, so I have to use a USB connection. The downloads are fast. Books are pretty small (Mbytes not Gbytes). I can't imagine it would be any different for a Kindle.

That being said, it's pretty easy and inexpensive to set up a wireless router.

I bought the sony because it can read epub formats and most libraries use that format, although I think it's possible to convert the files to the Kindle format. Also the Sony has a touch screen, which is nice. Of course, now I really want is a touch screen ereader WITH wireless, but nobody makes one .... yet.

Thanks Lily - good to hear downloads are fast with the USB connection. I'll have to look into the Sony ereader too.
