NPlate and headaches was created by dyan
Hello. I am hoping for some insight from others on NPlate or with knowledge/experience about side effects, etc. I have been on NPlate for about a year and a half. I went off it in late September as it appeared to not be working (count was 2 again) I had to return as I had major bleeding which had not been a concern for me. This continued for weeks. It turns out the dose of NPlate may just have not been high enough. Since then, I have had really high counts. I was on double the previous dose and we have lowered it a couple times as my counts have been up to 687. The doctor thinks it may have been the combination of taking steroids in early October when they threw various treatments at me to get the bleeding to stop.

My concern is that for weeks I have had severe headaches starting 3 days after the injection, lasting for about 3 days. I cannot function with the pain and have been taking 2 extra strength Advil those days every 3 hours to mitigate the pain. It is on my right side of my face above the eye right up to the ear Thie Advil seems to work but I am really concerned that something is terribly wrong. I plan to seek to have the dose lowered more (went down by 50) last week with no reduction in pain. I get my blood drawn tomorrow so I will know how high the count is. Last count was just under 500.

Doctors are thrilled with results but I would prefer the 50 range which I thought was the goal. They also don't feel the pain is attributed to the high platelets but I know otherwise.

Does anyone have any idea or experience with similar experiences? Thanks in advance!

Hi, I'm new on here and I'll post a more complete history on my husband when I start another thread. He has been taking N-Plate for 3 years and has bad headaches and severe dizziness and the symptoms have been getting worse and lasting longer. His platelet count has varied between 40 to 100. Just this week they cut his N-Plate dosage in half to 100 units and will be happy if his count can stay over 30 at that dosage. It too soon to tell if the lower dosage will alleviate the side effects. He originally started with 290 units of N-Plate and cut it to 200 a few months ago. The platelets stayed up, but the side effects continued to get worse.

He uses Tramadol for the headaches; it seems to help the most.
