Ohhh yeessss . . . I call mine '50 things to do before I die'. I have crossed off about 7 things so far . . My bucket seems to have a leak in it, there always seems plenty of room for more!
Other times it feels like it's overflowing & I'm never going to empty it.

Bucket lists always seem to change and there is always something else to add, but there are a few things that stay on mine,
1. To make sure my 10 year old grandson that has fragile x syndrome has a good productive life.
2. To see my grand daughter is happy in her adult life (she is 12)
3. To live near the ocean
4. To travel around Australia
5. To go to the USA and meet a wonderful friend that I met on this site
6. To some how help find an answer to why auto immune problems start
7. To write to Rob Thomas and thank him for a beautiful song (Her Diamonds) my husband used to play this song for me when I was a basket case from taking prednisone and this was his way of telling me he understood that I felt bad but he didn't know what to do to help.

I am sure there will be things added but this is my bucket list at the moment, care to share yours Sandi?

Cmon Sandi, you must share if you started this post!

I crossed many off already, including my life long dream of becoming a vet, falling in love and marrying someone AMAZING, running a 5K...

Currently on the list:
- Pay cash for a car (halfway there- if it weren't for ITP I'd have suceeded but it will make me appreciate it more)
- Sky dive
- Run in a MudRun (see me, next April, platelets or not!)
- Run a Marathon
- Go to Ireland
- See all 50 states of the US (not very far along yet, about 40 left to see!)
- See the 7 Wonders of the World

Just a few! :)
Fun post- thanks!

Okay, I only have a few so far. I need to add more. Mine are pretty lame.

1. Get a tattoo.
2. Lick an atomic wing from Quaker Steak.
3. Go to Hoboken and get a canoli from Buddy.
4. Visit Venice and ride a gondola.
5. Make bread pudding.

1. Already done. I have always been against tattoos and hated them. Suddenly, two years ago, I wanted one. Too much Kat VonD on TV. I got a sea horse on my arm which no one ever sees unless I wear a tank top.

2. Almost did this one. My husband brought home some fiery hot wings from a local restaurant. I wasn't in the mood to lick it, but he really wanted me to fulfill that one on my list, so he chased me around with it. I picked it up, rubbed it all over my tongue and continued doing the dishes. He was upset that I didn't react because he'd had a small taste and his head blew off. He then chased me around with a glass of milk because he was worried that my mouth was on fire. I don't count this as a check off on my list.

3. No future plans to go to NJ, so I've been settling for canoli's from the local grocery store which are actually very good.

4. My daughter did this one. Since I'm afraid to fly, I may have to be happy living vicariously.

5. Very doable and one of my first projects after I am done working.

I need to add 5 more things to my list.

My bucket list started when I was much younger through the years I've added things. Not in proper order.

1. Model - Technically did it was in a flower show we dressed up and modeled the flowers.
2. Jump out of an airplane - did that one without a parachute.
3. grow up and get paid to play music - Played the organ at church and they paid me.
4. Get a tattoo - now have two.
5. Do the polar bear dip - done it twice now.
6. Get married have children - 2 grown children and 2 exhusbands.
7. Go rock climbing - done indoor and outdoor.
8. Learn to scuba dive - completed done several dives.
9. Learn to play as many instruments as I can - still working on this one up to (piano, organ, guitar, madolin, ukelele, banjo, violin, glockenspeil, trombone(high school), pan flute, recorder)
10.Complete a bicycle race - Came in last place but there were about 200 who dropped out.
11.Have breakfast with Mickey Mouse - daughter says she will arrange that for my 60th bday.

In the process of trying to think of some new ones to add and I'm sure i've missed a few.

The only thing on my bucket list [and I don't even have a bucket list] which probably won't happen is getting to Australia and New Zealand.

I can make bread pudding - what I want is the recipe for the apricot sauce for it the chef at the Tokyo American Club made, it was out of this world good! I was in heaven when that was on the dessert menu!

I'll have to find a gluten free bread pudding recipe now. I've had no gluten for 2 1/2 weeks.

There are plenty of products in the grocery store that are gluten free - including breads, cakes, cookies, everything. Should be no problem.

Yeah, but have you ever tasted that stuff? Gluten free bread makes me  and the cookies I've tried have been awful. I did find some good crackers.

I have a cook book and have been baking my own stuff. Some of it is really good and some of it is crap. Trial and error.

Milly when I was a kid there were 2 things I wanted [after getting my dog] - 1) to go to Colorado; 2) to go to Australia and New Zealand.

#1 came to be, my family moved there - after getting married and knowing my husband's company had offices all over the world I told him to get us to Australia. After being married for 20 years he comes home and asks how I would like to move to Japan - my reply: "That's not Australia!" We did move there though and then to Hong Kong - so thankful we had that opportunity.

But as time goes on I don't think we will get to Australia and New Zealand - if we do you can bet I will let you know!!

I'm not crazy about bucket lists - too "deathy" - enjoy life, be thankful for what you can do and don't have any regrets - if you don't get everything done on a bucket list before sitting in the rocking chair on the porch of the old folks home then there would be regrets and that would be sad.

You start getting used to the gluten free bread and cookies after a while. With the bread you really have to toast it and it isn't so bad. There is a brand called kinnikinnick that makes pretty good bread and you can order online. Also Foods By George have really good English muffins, not sure if you could get them in PA.

The thing I find hard is all the hidden gluten in condiments, salad dressings, prepared foods. It is getting easier to eat out as many restaurants have gluten free menus.

I think of it as a reason to think of things I'd like to do while I'm alive. My husband and I had a sort of list of bands that we'd like to see and did pretty much met that goal. If we hadn't had the list, I don't think we would have done it. In the past few years, we saw Fleetwood Mac twice, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Moody Blues, The Wall, Riverdance, Transiberian Orchestra and a few others. I went to more concerts in my 40's than I did in my teens. In August, I'm going to see Justin Haywood with my niece...his voice gives me chills! I'd still like to see Heart. Ann Wilson's voice gives me chills too.

I make lists of things I need to accomplish every week, why not make one for what I want to accomplish in life? The thing is, I only put realistic, obtainable things on my list. Although I did push it a bit with the Venice wish. I need goals to push me because I would never do anything if I didn't.

A bucket list to me has nothing to do with death or dying, just hopes and dreams. So my bucket is always full of things that I want to do and achieve. I hope everyone gets to do a least one thing daily that you didn't do yesterday.

Melinda,
Look forward to seeing you in Oz one day ;-)

Dru:

I have toasted the bread but still didn't like it. I guess I have to keep trying different ones until I find one that I like. I made my own bread based on a recipe, but didn't really like that either. I'm going to bake a chocolate cake this week and see how that comes out. It seems to be hit or miss with these recipes.

Milly:

How are you doing? Miss you around here!

Hey Sandi, doing pretty good. The year started a bit rough, my husband had two heart attacks in the one day. He is really good now though but the up side is that it made me take a good look at health and lifestyle. I gained a fair bit of weight when I was on prednisone and didn't really do anything about it.

So forward to now and for the last few months been eating really well, no take out food, really limiting processed foods and walking. I walk an hour a day ( would have killed me a while ago)

My platelet count is always between 100 and 170 so that is great. Thyroid seems to be ok at the moment, trickery thing that thyroid and some advice to anyone that has thyroid trouble think long and hard before getting it removed .... A little pill struggles to do the job of a gland.

Anyway I do check on all you guys, Melinda, Erica, Dee dee, Dru. Little Dougie,Cindy all you guys that helped me out. I comment if I think I can help, so never fear I am just lurking around making sure all my ITP friends are doing ok :-)

How have you been Sandi? Do you feel better since you are no longer at work?

:S Don't say that! My daughter is having her thyroid removed next Thursday. The little pill she's taking to keep it calm isn't working so well either.

Sorry to hear about your husband. Very scary. I've made some lifestyle changes lately too with diet. Wanted to start walking too, but now have another stress fracture in my foot. I can't get ahead.

Not much better since stopping work, but at least the stress of that isn't there and I am able to focus more on my health. Still trying...

Milly I'm so glad your husband is doing well!! What a scare for you both!

I too have gained weight - blaming a med and my dear thyroid, heaven forbid it's because I think I can still eat the way I did when I was a skinny Mom.

I view the thyroid as an evil thing inside my body - boy that little bugger can cause some problems.

Wishing your daughter well Sandi!

Yeah Sandi I wish your daughter well, the operation was a breeze and I sailed through that. I just seem to have so so much trouble getting the medication level right and keeping it right, I can swing from normal to hypo to hyper so quickly without changing any medication dose.... I don't know why ???? But she will be fine.

I don't really blame lack of a thyroid for weight gain, I blame myself. Eating way to much the year I was on prednisone and then just not doing anything about it. But hey life is short, I never have been a super model nor do I wish to be :-/. I just want to live a long life and be able to have the little treat every now and again. So I will continue to walk for my hour a day and watch what I eat but have a treat now and again, I am happy with that.

Hey I have really missed our chats I will come back more often :-). :-)

Isn't that the truth! I made muffins though and they were really good. That dough though is the stickiest, messiest goop I've ever worked with. No matter how hard I try, it gets stuck to everything and I need a chisel to get it off.

Having broccoli and Quinoa for dinner....love it!

Thanks, Melinda! I just want her to feel better, so whatever it takes is worth a try.

Milly - miss you too!
