A role model for kids with ITP
- What grade are you currently in?
I’m in 11th grade. - How are you connected to ITP?
I was diagnosed in February, 2020. I’ve been in remission for 3 years. - How/Why did you get involved with PDSA? Why do you choose to stay involved?
I first learned about PDSA through a Facebook group on ITP, and they quickly became an amazing resource for me and my mom to learn more about ITP, meet other parents and kids, and hear new perspectives on my ITP case. I choose to stay involved with ITP simply because of the amazing community and people involved. I’m so lucky to be a part of this community. - What is your favorite part about volunteering for PDSA and spreading ITP Awareness?
I love the Parents and Kids with ITP Teleconferences! I help PDSA monitor the kid’s portion of those calls. I adore meeting other kids with ITP, especially younger kids. - How has PDSA impacted your healthy journey?
PDSA has helped my parents and me immensely in learning more about ITP immediately after my diagnosis. - Share something unique about you and/or one of your favorite hobbies.
After I was in remission from ITP, I started to play hockey! It was pretty scary after a full year of being extremely cautious in everything I did, but I love it. - What can you be found doing on the weekends?
Baking (usually cookies), playing card games with my family, or out with friends. - What is one thing you’d share with a newly diagnosed patient? This can be a tip, important reminder, inspirational quote, or something else you feel compelled to share.
The reminder that ITP is a roller coaster! There are a lot of very low lows and very high highs, but recovery is not linear, so keep smiling :)
