The mission of the Bleeding & Clotting Disorders Institute (BCDI) is to provide integrated, family-oriented care, treatment and education for persons with bleeding, blood clotting and other blood disorders.
As the only federally recognized, non-profit Hemophilia Treatment Center of Excellence south of Chicago, BCDI draws patients from 15 states. Referrals come from physicians, hospitals and self-referrals throughout the 'downstate' Illinois area.
BCDI collaborates with other health care providers for the coordination of care and to minimize the need for travel and hospitalizations.
Dr. Michael Tarantino, Medical Director and Founder of the Bleeding & Clotting Disorders Institute (BCDI), is board certified in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and he has extensive experience in treating adults and children with bleeding and clotting disorders. He has had a deep clinical and research interest in ITP for the past 28 years.
PSITP, or Patient Support for ITP, is a support group for individuals living with or affected by ITP.
