Wyatt's ITP Journey

My name is Wyatt, and I am writing to share my experience living with chronic Immune Thrombocytopenia (ITP). I was diagnosed on Christmas Eve of 2018, at the age of eight, after experiencing two lengthy nosebleeds that prompted an emergency room visit.

Since then, regular doctor appointments and blood tests have now become a routine part of my life. Previously, I was involved in a sport every season, but my new diagnosis has shifted me away from sports. While my activities have changed, I've developed a passion for cars and music and now play the trumpet and baritone in band.

Over the years, I have tried various medications and currently receive a weekly injectable medication called Nplate. Although life is different from what I once knew, I am learning to embrace this "new normal" and hope to educate others about ITP. I've also built strong relationships with many of my healthcare providers, including doctors, phlebotomists, and registration staff, which I am incredibly grateful for.

I've learned how to live with ITP, and I consider myself a warrior.
