Hi,
I was diagnosed with Celiac and hoped that going gluten free would solve my low platelet problem. But my platelets still seem to go up and down. I'm still trying to figure out what foods might be affecting me. Has anyone found tomato sauces to be problematic for platelets?

Tomatoes and all night shades are known to cause inflammation, so it's possible.

If cooked would they be a problem? I know someone who has an intolerance to citrus, tomoatoes, vanilla - however can eat spaghetti & pizza or anything with cooked tomatoes in it. So would cooking take away whatever is "bad" about night shades?

I do not have celiac but tomatoes haven't bothered my count - actually I never ate tomatoes much until I saw them on the list here and then I craved them, still do so I eat a lot of tomatoes.

By your platelets going up & down - what do you mean?

Thanks for your response. About platelets going up and down, I'm referring to lab results indicating number of platelets. I think that's generally the case with most people who have ITP--numbers fluctuate.

Karpos it is the case with everyone - the platelet count doesn't stay the same # all the time.

What is your count?
