I was diagnosed with ITP last September. My Platelet Level was 1 when I went into the hospital.Over the months I have had IVIG many bottles and 1 bottle of Rituxan which just about killed me.After these treatments my platelet levels would go up some 143 then back down to 27 or lower. My DR. was talking about trying N-Plate next. One day at the Drs office
to have my weekly bloodwork done a nurse said"I have a young Leukemia patient who is taking some Papaya Leaf Extract and it is raising his platelet level".I ordered the Extract off of Amazon.Started taking 30cc a day.My Platelet level has gone from 76 to 114.This has been since March 2011.My levels stay in the 100's.Papaya Leaf Extract is a known treatment for Dengue Fever and is known to elevate Platelet levels. This has been a miracle for me.I thought I was doomed to IV'S and too expensive meds for treatment.I'm now going for labwork once a month nd see DR every 4 months.I pray it will work for all who try it!

It comes in liquid and pill form.I order mine from Iowa Select Herbs or from Amazon just put in Papaya Leaf Extract in the search on Amazon.I am taking some pills along with the 30cc of liquid each day! My lab last week was 114! Goodluck if you try it!
I was diagnose with ITP in the first week of June 2011. My first treatment is Dexamethasone and my platelets went from 30 to 124 in the first 2 weeks but there been decreasing for the last two weeks from 124 to 80 and yesterday 54. Im avoiding the use of another corticosteroid for the moment and try something more natural.
I will give an update of my results later.
It would be great if any of you try this or will do it in the future get back here to this post and tell us your experience.
I never have tried the tea by itself. It may work but your labwork will give you the skinny on how well.I take the papaya leaf extract which is definitely stronger. My platelet levels have stayed in the 100's.
I ordered my daughter some of the extract. She had Rituximab last Sept/2010 but the last couple of months her platelets have been dropping. She has been taking the extract for about 2 weeks, but has missed a couple days. Her platelets last month were 157k. I just got her results and they are 173k, the first time they have actually gone up. Not sure if it has anything to do with the extract but "it can't hurt and just might help" I will continue to use it even though she despises the taste of it. Thanks for sharing this treatment idea with us.
I tried the Papaya Leaf extract and it didn't work for me for some reason. We actually ordered the leaves and got fresh extract but since that didn't work and my platelets stayed under 10 after two weeks after receiving Ivig my mom decided to go to Florida and actually get it completely fresh and we tried that and I'm still waiting to see if it works. I just got a blood test on Monday and my platelet count was 153 but I think it was because I just recently got Ivig last Wednesday. Does this work better than just getting it directly from the leaf?
Since I began taking the extract in April my numbers have stayed in the 100,s I don't want to take a chance on them going back down so I continue to take it.If you stop and your level starts to go back down then start taking it again!
I'm onboard to try this. I have been at 2 then 11 with two rounds of IVIG (HATE THAT STUFF)...then another IVIG up to 17...now back at 2. They want to start me on N-plate but I want something else to give here. I just ordered mine. Hopefully it'll give me more than 2!
I just ordered mine too, anything has got to be better than prednisone, down to 25 mg's and still crawling out of my skin, bone marrow extract Friday, then Dr talking about N Plates.... I feel like a guiney pig!!!
I've been taking the extract for a month and the only thing it did for me was instead of having to get Ivig every 2 weeks I now get it every 3 weeks. I'm still taking it though and hope it works in the long run. The doctor put me on promacta though so I'm not getting Ivig anymore but my platelets are 12 and they're still trying to adjust the dose. Whoever this works for do you just take the extract or do you have other treatments that go with it that keep your platelets up?
Yeah, just signed up for N-plate with a count of 2. I haven't responded to IVIG nor prednisone so I did order this up. Surprised that none of the healthfood stores carried this extract. Had to order it online. Surprising. Frustrated, as N-plate can take up to a week to get. That is ridiculous. Jump through this hoop, then that one then this one.
Hello I'm sorry you have gone thru so much already! I too had many bags of IVIG and Rituxin which almost killed me.I am taking the papaya pills now but used to take the liquid 30 cc.everyday.My nunbers now stay around 120's.I only get my bloodwork now every 2 months.Goodluck to you!
In the beginning I took the papaya liquid on an empty stomach first thing in the am.I waited 30 min before eating or drinking. Now I take two pills of papaya in am 30 min before eating.I pray it will work for you!
I started on the papaya leaf extract today and took it 3 times with 16 oz water each time. It may be too much water.
How much water or liquid did you use when using the papaya leaf extract? Did you use 2 tbls at one time? How much many oz of liquid? How many times per day? What is 30cc equal to in teaspoons? What can I use for a measurement to equal 30cc?
