Who has gotten the vaccine and what was your side effects? I was diagnosed April 27, 2012 and have tried everything for ITP including spleen removal.

Amber, my first shot was the Astra Zeneca and my second was Pfizer.  Had a bit of a metallic taste with the AZ and a little nausea but with the Pfizer, I didn't have any side effects.  I'm eligible for a booster but am getting my flu shot on the 22, so I am going to wait to get that.
I had my spleen out in 2006.

No side effects - get Pfizer booster in the morning.  I have heard from a few that the booster has caused pain at the injection site - but know you aren't looking for that type of side effect.  I did not have any known drop in count - even if I did I would still have gotten the 2nd and also made the appointment for the booster.

Moderna, two shots.
Both shots gave me fever the day after. Second shot tiredness and body pain.
After that (july and august) I've had counts of 40 until last week, I had 175, but after romiplostim dosage increased. Don't know if it has something to do with the vaccine, but It could be and my doctor thinks it's always a possibility. Anyway I prefer the vaccine, don't want to catch the virus without it!

I got Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Side effects were a mild fever and flu like symptoms for two days.
Platelets were around 50k prior and around 60k about a week after the vaccine.

Hi Amberyard!

I was diagnosed when I was 6 weeks old in 1997, had counts of less than 5,000. But with NPlate I range at 40k to 60k.

I got both Moderna vaccines, 1st dose I just had fatigue and soreness in my arm. 2nd dose, I ended up with a fever, chills, fatigue, and soreness in my arm.

I was at 56k prior when I got both doses

The first dose dropped my count to 34k

The second dose dropped my count drastically to 9k.

Here is my experience.  Got my Pfizer shots both by April of 2021.  In summer noticed strange stuff so got my levels checked. Still around 90k but less than they had been (been in remission for several years with Rituxin).  Then got my booster in November.  Now in Jan started noticing a lot more issues. Got tested yesterday.  6k level. Ug.  Was it the vaccine to blame or just Rituxin effect wearing off? Who knows.  Does make me a bit nervous though about future MRNA vaccines.  At a min I'll track my platelets much more closely before and after any future vaccinations.

What does your hematologist say?
I know what triggered my ITP and the symptoms showed up probably less than 2 weeks later [this was 1989 so can't recall exactly] - is that the norm, symptoms show up quickly after ITP is triggered or is it months as in your case?  The only certain thing about ITP is there is nothing certain about ITP!

I'm sorry your count has dropped and I hope it is just temporary and your remission has not gone out the window.
