Do you know of any sport limitation with a count between 30000 to 50000?

Obviously apart from sport contacts like boxing or karate.

I found this information for children with ITP but I guess it also works for adults:
guide2itp.com/ask-expert-itp-sports

ITP sports guidelines
Always talk to your doctor before saying “yes” to a new activity. Here are general guidelines to consider with your doctor.

If your child’s platelet counts are below 75,000, he should avoid playing high-contact,
high-risk sports such as:

Football
Rock climbing
Rugby
Wrestling

If your child’s platelet counts are 30,000 to 75,000, he may be able to play or do:

Baseball
Basketball
Gymnastics
Karate
Mountain biking
Running
Rowing
Skateboarding
Skiing and snowboarding
Soccer
Tennis
Track
Waterskiing

*Talk to your doctor about activities that are safe for a platelet count below 30,000.

However, on one occasion my doctor told me that below 70000 is better not to do any sport that makes your heart pump blood too intensively since it can increase the chances of brain hemorrhage. Does any one hear the same? or my doctor is too cautious, as he usually is.

Give me a one good reason not to be cautious unless you have a death wish.

I understand.
but one thing is to be cautious and another thing is to be overcautious. I can say if your count is 35.000 dont get out of home or dont drive since an accident can kill you. Is it realistic or i am too cautious?

I have had ITP since 2004 and have been as low as 3 at one point. For the most part, I have never taken it cautiously. The only time I am really careful is if someone has a cold. My family was always telling me I couldn't do something. I will admit I don't play sports so things may be a bit different.

I agree with you. I've seen many people sacrifice something they used to love before. My uncle alive with diabetes. He always do his best to avoid sugar even his insulin shots on the table. He always used to say, I love it but I don't want any trouble. So why not ITPers sacrifice something for greater good? I mean something not necessary. I find sports are unnecessary. But driving is not easy avoid. Still risky but we take our chances with it. It's fair and worthy to me than playing some stupid game for fun. Sometimes, being realistic can be worst, I take my chances with sense.

  • ITP since 2014. Retired nurse. My belief is empower patients to be involved as much as possible in their care. Read, read, read & ALWAYS question medics about the evidence base they use.

I agree with Cindy. My advice is rule your ITP rather than let ITP rule you. Symptoms not counts is the key. Obviously I wouldn’t opt for a surgical procedure with a count below say 40 but otherwise I just get on with my life. I’m a frontline nurse and have worked 12 hour shifts with a count of 2.
