I am a 73 yr old male that was diagnosed with MDS 3 1/2 years ago. After being on chemo (Vidaza) for 3 yrs it stopped working. I went on a Vidaza + Venoclax routine for 4 months but BMB showed a continued decline in my Blast counts and am now on a Cytarabine + Daurismo routine. My platelet counts ( and WBC, RBC, Hg) during this time have continually dropped. They now seem to hover at around 2-4 and have been as low as 0. Platelet(irradiated) infusions don't seem to bring the platelet count up. I am now told to try HLA Matched platelets. I am asymptomatic with only purpura and petiche on my arms and legs. Has anyone had the same experience or experience with HLA Matched platelets? Did it make a differncence?

We here have ITP which means we kill off our own platelets so receiving any platelet transfusion including antigen matched wouldn't help. So I fear that nobody here will have had the experience you are looking for. Good luck.
