Hi all - My baby girl Hailey was born on the 31st of January with no complications. I've had ITP since March 2009 (it was bad for a year then went into remission). The birth was by cesarean (because my first ended up coming out that way - not because of ITP) and my platelets were around 170 at the time and they were still there 2 days after the birth. Her platelets were over 300K thank goodness. They did an ECG to check her heart since I have anti-Ro (SSA) antibodies known to cause fetal heart block (~3% risk) and she is fine. Because of my ITP history I was monitored closely in a high risk/special pregnancy clinic over the last 9 months. I'm enjoying our newborn and just hope ITP doesn't come back. I have to admit I'm not thinking about it a whole lot right now! All the best to everyone!
Congratulations on the safe arrival of your little girl. I'm so happy to hear all went well. Sounds like the Drs took your SSA antibodies seriously, they didn't really care about mine. I have remained in remission for nearly a year since my baby was born, and I hope your platelets continue to behave. Enjoy your little princess.
