I have to have a procedure done at my next ob appointment and Im kinda nervous. My pap came back abnormal and now they want to look with a microscope. Im worried about bleeding, with a platelet count of 35 Im not sure I want to have it done. My ob has told me that when I deliver all these cells will be washed out. So I dont see the point in doing this. Im not sure what to think.

What kind of procedure? Aren't they just going to do another pap? I had that once, something abnormal on a pap and they just did another one. It turned out ok. Maybe they want to make sure it's not something that may harm the baby. I dunno. It's gonna be ok though. I don't think they would do anything that would cause a bleeding problem. When will it be done?

It's probably a colposcopy. I've had a few over the years. Sometimes they hurt and sometimes they don't. And yes there will be some bleeding. You of course need to let then know about your count so they can cauterize or do whatever to stem the bleeding. It's a tiny wound so the bleeding is not likely to be dangerous.

It is to be done after 16 weeks before 20 weeks. He assured me that ther will be no biopsy done but it still makes me really nervous. I had some bleeding with the pap. With a count of 35 Im not sure Im willing to take that risk and really want to discuss this at my next appt but he wants to do it at my next appt. I believe he is going to line my cervix with vinegar because any abnormal cells will show up under that. I dont know maybe Im over reacting. My problem is that if all these bad cells will be washed away with delivery then why bother??

Sorry you have to have this problem. I'd say that's a question for the doctor. Most likely, it's diagnostic.

Well its a coloscopy..bascially they are lining my cervix in vinegar and checking for any abnormalities. Its scheduled at my next OB appt in 3 weeks. He has decided that he wants to see me at 3 weeks intervals vs the 4 weeks. He promised no biopsy but if anything was abnormal I will not being a vaginal birth. Hes pretty sure that its nothing but necesary. Now if only the baby would turn the right way so we could see what it is.
