Gestational Thrombocytopenia- not ITP 2 years 5 days ago #70877

Hi everyone,
I had my first son July 2019. My platelets dropped throughout my pregnancy. They decided to induce, but tried steroids and IVIG while in hospital before breaking my water. Nothing helped. My platelets were around 30 at their lowest point. 6 weeks PP they were back up to 120 or so.
Docs didn't say for sure- but are inclined to think it was GT, not ITP.
I'm considering having another, but I was told the likely of recurrence of GT is 60-70%. My first birth experience was a very traumatic one, I am still dealing with the impact. I ended up delivering naturally with no assistance from docs (forceps, etc.) or pain medication (not by choice). I was told epidural was not an option, and a general anesthetic and c-section would only be performed in an emergency.
Has anyone had GT and have it not return in subsequent pregnancies? Or if it did come back, what were your options?
Thank you

Hi! Not sure how many come to this part of the forum - you may want to post this up in the Adult section as hopefully you will get some responses there.
