So a few of you know my story. I was trying to conceive in 2012 when I was diagnosed with itp & had a count of 1. Fast forward through a year of pred & ivig and I got a partial remission. By march this year I was off all meds, had a count of 40ish and was given the green light for fertility treatment (for entirely different reasons than itp).

I'm now 8 weeks pregnant!!

So far it's not been plain sailing. I feel very well, but am quite anxious. My counts are actually going up and were in the 50's at last count 3 weeks ago. But I have had some intermittent spotting and bleeding which is really worrying. Have a scan tomorrow due to some bleeding this weekend to check whether bubs is ok.

I debated announcing here at only 8 weeks but I'm trying to live in the moment, think positive & enjoy. Needless to add that I'm thrilled that we're expecting - just hoping for a relatively smooth journey
Lowest count 1. Highest count 207 (ivig) Indium scan showed predominantly splenic destruction. No meds currently, just seeing how things go.

Very cool regardless of what happens.... Gotta fight the fight. fyi... Wife and I did IVF after 8 years of trying. Got lucky the kiddo is 8+ months. I was diagnosed after. Still swear he is sucking the life out of me, but I'm okay with that.

Thanks sandi. The scan went well & bubs is measuring perfectly with a lovely heartbeat. They don't know why I'm having bleeding & had no clue about itp. But all looks well for now :)

Kyndig - congratulations on your ivf success!! I have heard a theory that kids have so much energy because they absorb it from adults around them - not much scientific research to support it (lol!) but I'd bet lots of parents would swear it's true!! Enjoy him while he's still so little :) my first is 3 now - opinionated, argumentative & with an attitude to boot

Not really a pregnancy update as such, but thought that only this forum would understand. My count on 25th November was 47 and today (19th dec) it's 105!!

It may not last but I'm enjoying it while I can!!

Now if I could only skydive whilst pregnant lol!! I might go & chop some veggies dangerously!!!

14 weeks now. All is still looking good with baby.

Had a midwife suggest I take anticoagulants last week! She had followed a flow chart for clotting disorders. Clearly not my kind of clotting disorder!!! My reply was fairly short and to the point!!

Still having bleeding on & off but it looks like my counts are yo-yo ing. They keep swapping between high 40's and around 100. And it looks like I'm now getting symptoms in the 40's I wouldn't have expected before pregnancy until I was in the teens. So - there are two theories;

Theory 1 - my platelets are not the great quality that they were.

Theory 2 - my bleeding is cervical when my counts are plummeting. The high blood flow suggests this is like getting nosebleeds when counts plummet.

And of course it could be a combination of both.

Not feeling baby moving much yet, but have had the odd flutter which is like to believe is baby. Can't wait for some real kicks!!

Just was thinking perhaps the spotting is not ITP related? Have you had your first ultrasound? I didn't have ITP with my pregnancies but with one of my pregnancies I had a lot of spotting throughout the pregnancy, particularly in the first trimester and on my first ultrasound they determined it was because the placenta was low and close to the cervix, called placenta previa. Mine was a partial placenta previa and I was told partial ones are more common then complete ones. May not be the case at all but just wanted to mention that could be things other then ITP too! I think sometimes for myself I blame everything on the conditions I currently have and it leads me not to realize there is something else going on sometimes so just wanted to mention it!

Exciting being pregnant! Hope all goes well! Congrats from a stranger! LOL! This stranger promises not to rub your belly the way others will as it gets bigger!

Thanks mommabee :)

I've had 5 scans in total (!!!). 3 because of bleeding, 1 normal and 1 because I was on fertility treatment. They have never been able to find a cause for the bleeding & have said they're 99.9% sure it's not coming from my uterus. I had one scan when I was still spotting. Which leaves unexplained cervical bleeding. You're totally right of course - it doesn't have to be itp - but that's what I'm left with after ruling out the other usual suspects in pregnancy. Of course some women do just get spotting - but it's annoying & worrying!

Lol on the tummy rubs!! Virtual rubs will go down a lot better than real life ones. I perfected my "what the hell do you think you're doing you weirdo" face with dd - and I could hand it out before I was touched!!! ;)

Counts were back up to 97 last week. Dizzy heights!!! I'm 15 weeks and hoping the reasonable counts last.

Felt my first real kick last night and another couple today. So exciting :cheer:

I'm 18 weeks pregnant now & beginning to have some of the usual niggles. Trouble sleeping, some pelvic discomfort & headaches - but it will all be worth it! I feel baby everyday now & got such a big kick yesterday for stretching it felt like baby saying "oi!! Stop that!". Lol - think I have another with attitude on the way

I'm getting some bruising, bleeding gums when I brush my teeth & a small nosebleed this morning :( Have a blood test booked for this morning but have been getting symptoms for over a week now. I did go for a blood test last Monday, but by Thursday it became apparent that my sample had been lost in transit  Just annoying! I'm hoping my count is still over 50 & I don't have to treat just yet. We'll see.....

Another update from me....

I'm 28 weeks pregnant tomorrow. I still feel like 12 weeks is a long way to go - I can't wait to meet my baby!! I had a bit of a meltdown last week because my ob team wouldn't put a plan together for birth - I was getting a bit stressed - especially as I had more bleeding and was referred to the labour ward as preterm labour was a possibility - with no plan!!!

Anyway - all turned out well, but I have thrown a bit of a hissy fit & have approached the specialist itp haemo I've been seen by in the past so he's going to see me.

Unbelievably - my count was 41 when I was taken to the labour ward. It was 89 two days later and today (1 week later) it is 286!!!! No treatment. The nurse I spoke to (who I know quite well now lol) nearly fell off her chair in surprise!! I may have wasted a hissy fit!! Lol!!

I have never had a count this high without ivig treatment. I am still recovering from a cough/cold so it may still be short lived, but it's still amazing & seems to defy the odds of pregnancy & itp!

I finish work soon & am looking forward to having a few weeks rest before this little one arrives - although my now 4 year old may have something to say about that :) Everything seems to be going well - touch wood!!

:)
