Platelets at 11 today after ivig a week ago. Went to my first obgyn appointment today and they are not happy with these numbers. Even said if platelets don't get better we may have to discuss terminating the pregnancy. My heart sank im so upset. Nplate keeps me kind of stable thinking about going back to the nplate and hoping for the best. any help would be so appreciated, feeling helpless.

Kelly:

Do you have a high risk OB? If not, get one. If this one is high risk, find another one. I have seen women get through pregnancies with low counts and the attitude of the doctor is important. It is up to the Dr. to try to make this work. He/she can and should also consult with your Hemo. I don't know if they would allow N-Plate or not. Does IVIG work at all for you?

Ivig does work but for less then a week n I'm scared it will stop working all together if used too much, and thank you I feel a little better I was just shocked at the response because to me terminating is not an option I want to be excited and all these drs are acting like it's the most horrible thing in the world.

Yes, find the specialists. It's a tough situation but they should be a bit more optimistic for your sake.

Definitely see a high risk ob. I had single digits almost my entire pregnancy. I did ivig every other Week and high dose steroids. My baby is now 18 months. He was born early but ITP had nothing to do with it.

Thanks guys sometimes I don't know what I would do without this board sanford you are so informative as usual and thank you tiger eyes that made me feel so much better I am now 7 weeks hady first ultra sound heartbeat was 154 everything looked good. I have been getting ivig every week last week went from 4 to 70ish it works just not very long. They freak out when I'm in single digits and I get it but sometimes I wish the drs would calm down a little. Again thank you for your answers :)

It's important you he a and OB work together. Are you on steroids? If not it might help the ivig work longer. As long as your not actively bleeding you should be ok. Do you see a he a?

Steroids haven't worked on me in ten years I will be seeing my new ob soon she's supposed to be the best, I rarely actively bleed. Even at 3 or 4 I rarely have symptoms.
