Anyone else been brave enough to take on multiple pregnancies, despite ITP???

Have you noticed an "improvement" with each pregnancy??? Just wondering if it's fluke, or maybe our bodies adapt to the idea?!?

Had ITP my whole life. My counts usually hover at 100k, when not pregnant.

1st pregnancy, dropped to 20k. IVIG worked within 2 days (1 treatment, week 35), bringing me just above 100k. No problems at delivery.

2nd pregnancy, dropped only to 40-50ish. IVIG worked within 2 days (6+ treatments, week 30 onwards), bringing me just above 100k. No problems at caesarean delivery.

3rd pregnancy, dropped only to 60k. IVIG took a few days to kick in (had me worried), but then brought counts to 180K!!!! 1 treatment, week 35, no complications at caesarean delivery.

Each pregnancy was very anxiety-provoking, especially at the end... am I crazy to want to go for just one more?

I don't think you are crazy at all. It seems that ITP was managed fairly easily and you responded well. Your counts were great and deliveries uneventful.

I'm currently 35, almost 36 weeks pregnant with #3. First pregnancy was induced for count at 30k and falling. That's when I got my ITP diagnosis. I had known for years that I had low platelets but no one ever gave it a name and I never had any symptoms other than a count that stayed around 60k.

Second pregnancy I never got lower than 60k I think, and was 97k at delivery without any intervention.

This pregnancy I've stayed right at 52-54k the whole time.

I've never been counseled to avoid pregnancy based on my ITP, though they do watch me closely throughout the process. :)
