Is there a way for an author to edit the actual title of a topic they created?

Wowa. Yes, the method works as you describe Sandi.
One just goes to the first message of the thread (that you own), edit the post, and the title becomes editable too.

I thought I'd tried that and it didn't work but maybe I wasn't concentrating hard enough had a very tiring weekend tearing around after 4 grand kids LOL
