Jeff, I can see you're working hard at the update, and hate to bother you with this. I realize my problem may be mine alone. Since the update, I can't remain logged in even though the box to do so is checked. Can you suggest something to fix that?

Midwest6708,

Here is one POSSIBLE thing that could be causing the problem. You may be logged in at pdsa.org, but some of your "bookmarks" or "favorites" or website history may be leading you to www.pdsa.org (with the "www"). ???

Both addresses work just fine, but they are treated differently concerning the log-in. I will look into how to remedy that on that end. In the meantime, please test out this theory on your end and let me know if that seems to be the issue.

Thanks.

This might confuse you... I hope I can explain it.

I went to pdsa.org and signed out. Then I went to the bookmark I have for the discussion group, logged out, and closed the browser. When I reopened the browser and clicked the bookmark again, I found I was still logged in and now find I can't log out.

I searched for PDSA groups through google, clicked on that link and discovered it's a secure site - https: with a lock symbol. I was not signed in.
I opened a second tab, clicked on my bookmark, found it is not a secure page, and I was already signed in (even though I had signed out).
If I delete the old bookmark and create a new one from the secure page, might that solve the issue?

Midwest6708,

After researching the issue I made a couple of configuration changes. Please try this...

1. Go to pdsa.org
2. Log out if you are logged in. If you cannot log out, then erase the active logins in your Internet browser's history. If you need help with that, let me know what browser you are using and I will send instructions.
3. Once logged-out, click the Log In/Out link at the very top of the page. A window will appear - log-in and make sure the "Remember Me" checkbox is checked.
4. See if that saves your log-in. It should now keep you on the non-secure version of the website.
5. If you have bookmarks to the secure (https) version of the website, disregard those for now. Maybe you should not delete those yet, but just don't use them while we figure this out.

Thanks.

Jeff,
In my posting history (page 4) there is a thread called 'Celiac, gluten and ITP'. But the link to the thread is 'pdsa.org/' - which is obviously wrong. After searching in other histories/places it looks like that thread has been miss indexed some how.

Oh, one other thing. This may be a browser issue. I am using Chrome (Comodo Dragon). In the post editor ('markItUpEditor'), and when I click on the emoticon happy-face, the popup overlay window ('modal-footer') is about a quarter off screen. The window starts way off screen to the left. The first 8 emoticons to select from are off screen.

Hal9000,

Thanks for reporting that. I fixed it! The topic was missing from the database, so I imported it back in from a previous database backup. Here is the direct link to the topic in the "Newly Daignosed...: category: pdsa.org/discussion-group/5-newly-diagnosed-a-frequently-asked-questions/29502-celiac-gluten-and-itp.html. The link to this topic is now working in the "Forum Posts" tab in your profile too.

Thanks.

Midwest6708-

FYI... I reverted back to the secure log-in module for the website. That means when you log-in with your username and password from the home page or discussion group, it will redirect you to the secure version of the website. This is the best practice to use for security purposes. I hope this does not recreate a problem for you.

Let me know if you cannot stay logged-in after you log-in at this link: pdsa.org.

Thank you.

Jeff,

I have noticed that, when I am writing a post, the formatting bar has fewer options. Two that I am aware of are bullet points and subscript/superscript. There may also have been indentation of paragraph. Can anyone remember any more that I missed?

Can we get any of these back? If not, is there a list of control codes we can use?

Many thanks!

Jeff, I am unable to upload an image file from my pc into a message. I get the error message "upload failed". There is not a file size issue, and I have tried both png and jpg formats.

Have you logged-in near the top-right of the discussion group page and see your avatar icon there? Then clicked the PREFERENCES button under the drop-down menu next to your avatar? Is that how you received that error message?

OK... so I was able to fix the problem (for me) by clearing the browsing data/history in my Internet browser. I was ALSO able to get it to work in another Internet browser, which is consistent with this approach and means that there is probably something saved in your Internet browser that is not allowing the updated version of the website to load. Please give that a try and let me know if that fixes the issue for you. Thank you.

Mr. Jeff
There appears to have been a change so that one can edit one's post for only a certain amount time after the post. If so, what is that time?

In the settings for the discussion group, the editing privilege is set to YES and for an UNLIMITED time.

Just so I am clear, when you click on the ACTION button under your post, there is no EDIT option on "older" posts? EDIT shows up for me, but that does not mean anything.

Thanks for helping me troubleshoot. -Jeff
