Is anyone else bothered by the new formatting? It just seems stupid, slow and cumbersome to me.
I first noticed it on my iphone, and now it seems it's showing up the same way on my home computer.
Now, when I click on the last post of a topic, I can only see that post. Before, you could see all the previous posts on that page by scrolling up. Now, you have to click on each post individually, wait for it to open, before reading it. You lose the fluidity to the post, and it's difficult to remember if I've already read a post, particularly if a single poster has made multiple replies.
I don't understand the point of this, either. Is it possible to change it back? It certainly doesn't make the experience 'user-friendly' and will likely discourage many from even coming on here, now.

When I click on the last post (on my laptop) I am able to scroll up. Same with iPad. I don't have good enough eyesight to even attempt to use message boards on my iPhone.

I haven't noticed a change, I guess because I don't click on 'last post' I click on the thread and it is sorted with the last post at the top. That seems to work out pretty well. I'm using a laptop too.

Okay, this is getting very strange! When I first came on this morning, I wasn't logged in, and I could see the entire page of posts in each thread, everything seemed back to normal, although I hadn't done anything different. But, as soon as I went to reply, had to log in, and immediately I could see only one post at a time. I can see who posted a reply and how long ago they posted it (I.e. 1 hour and 20 min ago), but i have to open up each post individually and can see only one at a time.

This is something new in just the last 4 or 5 days. If it was just happening on either my iPhone or my laptop, I could assume it was perhaps due to my OS being quite old on my laptop, and they updated the software. But, I don't think my iPhone is old enough to be outdated yet.
And weird that it happened on both. I am not having any other similar problems with other forums that I periodically check. Anyone else, or am I just 'special'?

Erica, I tried doing what you said by clicking on the topic name instead of 'last post' and I'm still getting the same thing.

Tamar, I cleared my cache and cookies a few days ago, but did it again, anyway, and still no change.

Any other ideas? Where's Jeff?

April, do you see a couple of options that say "threaded / indented" or "flat / indented" ? When I clicked on threaded it changed to flat, and I think I saw what you describe. I changed it back to threaded and now it is back to normal for me.

Yay! That did the trick, Tamar--thank you!!
What a silly little thing. I probably hit it by accident when using my iPhone. I never knew what that meant before. Mystery solved!

Just curious April if you find the site still slow??

It is very slow for me - I was told by Jeff I needed to change browsers, which I will not do for just one site. What happens is the site comes up but keeps "thinking" so takes a bit before it has officially loaded and I can go to a thread or sign in. This did not start until the last update that was done a couple weeks ago. So really it is easier for me to stay away.

You can see that the solution to April's problem was something she could control from her end. It was not a problem with the Discussion Group.

From the lack of responses regarding the problem that Melinda is having (the Discussion Group loading slow) I suspect that the issue is not a global website problem. Trying a different website browser is always a good troubleshooting step because if the problem is fixed you will know that it was a browser-related issue and not a global website issue.

Hi Melinda,

I know when they changed things awhile back, I did notice a substantial reduction in speed on this forum. It kept me away, too. Now, I have no idea what happened, but I no longer seem to have that problem, but I didn't change things on my end. I still have an ancient Mac (at least in computer world), and I can't update my browsers because my OS is too old. I know Jeff is right about updating, and one of these days I'll do it. For me, it's often easier to stay with something familiar, than have to figure out how to use the new, improved model. Maybe for my birthday...
